Form Beyond Function: Liquid Time

This wristwatch, designed by Andy Kurovets, has got two names. Alternates, if you will: one is "Liquid Time" while the alternative is "From Nowhere to Nowhere". The Liquid Time wristwatch utilizes two LCD screens specially crafted to fit the watch as well as some very clever typography.

Limited Edition Sebastian Vettel Timepiece: Casio EDIFICE EQW-M1000-SV-1AER

His blend of perfectly timed manoeuvres and near faultless driving has seen him on the podium six times already this season. Now, to celebrate Vettel’s success, Casio has created an exclusive new motorsport inspired EDIFICE watch with the release of the EDIFICE EQW-M1000-SV-1AER.

The EQW-M1000SV-1AER combines a sporty image with the sophistication of an elegant chronograph. The Slimmest Walkman: Sony NW-840

The NW-A840 is a slim 7.2mm thick and features a 2.8 inch OLED display, digital noise cancellation, and 16 GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage. Also onboard is 720 x 480 resolution video out.

Battery life is estimated at 29 hours of continuous music or 9 hours of video playback.

They come bundled with Sony’s premium MRD-EX300SL earbuds. Available in Japan on the 31st of October.

A Clock with Style: Ulysse Nardin Planet Earth Clock

The Ulysse Nardin Planet Earch desk clock features a spherical presentation of Earth in the Universe as conceived by Dr. Ludwig Oechslin. It shows at all times the exact position of Sun, Moon and fixed Stars in relation to any location on Planet Earth.

This outer transparent globe does not move while the inner sphere representing a model of the Universe as seen from Earth, rotates at the speed of the sidereal day in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds. The inner sphere displays the signs of zodiac, months and major fixed stars.

The Viliv S5 pmp is an XP-based MID with 4.8-inch touchscreen, 60GB hard disk, Intel Silverthorne-class 1.33GHz Z520 CPU, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, and 1 GB of memory. Since it runs XP, you can install any application including iTunes as shown the video. It is due in the US at the end of March.

Intricately Designed: Tokyoflash Kisai Sensai Watch

From the Tokyoflash site on the Kisai Sensai: "With a surface made up of positive shapes and negative lines, Sensai has been intricately designed on different levels to create a look that takes the Kisai series to the next dimension."

The Kisai Sensai watch features a combination of brushed and sandblasted areas, a choice of case and strap color combinations, and multicolored LEDs beneath sleek black acrylic lenses.

A single touch of the upper button initiates a rotating animation before the remaining LEDs show the time. Twelve red LEDs represent hours, eleven green LEDs represent groups of five minutes and four yellow LEDs represent single minutes. The time can be shown immediately with a second touch of the button. Let's see, the watch on the left displays 12:59.

Mobile World Congress 2009: Samsung GT-S1100 Watch Phone Concept

You know my weakness for watch phones.

Not to be outdone by LG, Samsung showed its decade-long history with watch phones and introduced its newest concept: the Samsung GT-S1100. According to Engadget the watch phone features a full touchscreen, Bluetooth, and a speakerphone.

The RAmos T9 iMovie 2 pmp is the follow-up to the iMovie T8 pmp. It features a 640 x 480 resolution 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a polished aluminum alloy frame, and 16GB storage. Not much more is known at this time.

Irresistable Wrist Wear: Tokyoflash Heko Watch


The Heko watch by Tokyoflash wraps around your wrist like a bracelet. Touch the button and the LEDs shine through the mirrored lenses, animating robotically before presenting the time.

Hours are presented on the upper screen. The hours three, six, nine and twelve in the same positions as on a clock face. Hours one and two are in between, a combination of lit LEDs show the hour.

Minutes are presented on the center and lower screens. The lower screen shows zero, fifteen, thirty and forty-five minutes in the same position as on a clock face, the LEDs in between show five minutes each. The central screen presents four single minutes, a combination of lit LEDs show the minutes.

The date can be read in a similar way with a second touch of the upper button.

The watch on the right reads 1:41. Not too hard once you get the hang of it!

I have a definite weakness for watch phones. LG introduced their 3G HSDPA LG-GD910 watch phone prototype at CES 2009. The LG-GD910 will feature voice calling, text to speech, and stereo Bluetooth capabilities. Mechanically it will have a touchscreen, 3 buttons, and be water resistant.
