At Your Fingertips: iPod touch

This is one pretty media player. The iPod touch features Apple's multi-touch user interface, first introduced on the iPhone. It has a 3.5-inch display and is an incredible eight millimeters thin! It comes with 8 GB or 16 GB of memory.

The iPod touch includes Wi-Fi wireless networking, the first on any iPod and includes three applications that take advantage of the wireless function: Safari, the most advanced browser on any mobile device and features Google Search or Yahoo! oneSearch; Apple's YouTube application lets users wirelessly watch over 10 million free videos from the Internet's most popular video website; and the new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store lets you wirelessly browse, preview and buy songs and albums from the iTunes store.

The iPod touch stores thousands of pictures and plays slideshows with music and transitions. It supports JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG image formats. It supports audio playback in the following formats: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, & 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, and AIFF. And supports the following video formats: mp4, m4v, and mov.

The iPod touch features an accelerometer that detects when the unit is rotated from/to portrait and landscape and adjusts the display accordingly.

It connects to a PC or Mac through USB (using the dock connector).
