For the Astronomy Fan: Astrodea Celestial Watch

The Astrodea Celestial Watch was designed by Hideo Uehara for watchmakers Citizen Japan. The Celestial Watch's blue star map rotates in real-time, accurately displaying 1,109 stars and 169 galaxies: 90% of what's visible from the Northern Hemisphere. It comes packaged with a 10x magnifying eyepiece and, thanks to its intense detail, the universe is on your wrist.

The Celestial line of watches tend to come out in an updated version each year — this year's being a little slimmer and lighter — and only a few hundred are made annually. They go for $600.

Digital Tactile Watch: Sentio Watch Concept

The Sentio watch blurs the lines between mechanical timepieces and contemporary digital watches. Sentio has been developed as an interactive watch for the visually impaired. However, due to the universal format in which the time is displayed, anyone can easily use it.

The face of Sentio consists of two 7-segment displays that output either minutes or hours depending on the mode selected. Instead of lighting up, however, the segments are mechanically animated. Each segment has the ability to rise up 1mm above the face of the watch so that it can be both seen as well as touched. I would hope that there is a way for the user to know what mode is currently selected.
